Nikolai Puntikov is the founder of StarSoft, one of Russia’s first private software engineering firms, which he turned into a premier software services provider. In 2007, StarSoft merged with Exigen Services to become a leading force in the IT application outsourcing space in Central and Eastern Europe. Nikolai was responsible for business development and staff operations in ten R&D centers in six countries in Eastern Europe, the Baltics and China. Nikolai resigned from Exigen Services in 2010.

Nikolai is an active member of the Russian software engineering community. He is the founder and editor-in-chief of, and the General Chair of CEE-SECR, the largest independent software engineering conference in Eastern Europe. Starting from 2003, Nikolai has been continuously elected to the Board of the Russian National Association of Software Developers (RUSSOFT).

Currently Dr. Puntikov is a President of First Line Software Group, a global company offering broad range of software development and technology enablement services and solutions.

Nikolai holds a master's degree from the St. Petersburg State University and a doctorate from the Institute of Informatics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
