President, Transas Group
Nikolay Lebedev was born in 1957 in Sochi. He graduated from the navigation faculty of the Admiral Makarov State Maritime Academy in Leningrad. After graduating, Mr. Lebedev worked for ten years as a navigator aboard Baltic Shipping Company vessels. He ended his marine career in 1990. In the mid-1980s Mr. Lebedev gathered a group of associates from among the programmers and marine officers of the Baltic Shipping Company and began developing software for maritime transport and aviation. In 1992 the first Transas Group offices opened abroad, with Mr. Lebedev becoming the company's president. His authority, technical and professional knowledge, and leadership talent guaranteed that Transas would earn and maintain leading positions in the sphere of electronics and software for the transportation industry not only in Russia, but on the international market as well.
